The direct thread rolling machine represents a modern method of thread production that was introduced to Iran by Pertless Company less than a decade ago. To date, this company remains the sole implementer of this threading technique in Iran.

Unlike rib peeling machines, this device does not cut away the rebar ribs. Instead, it presses the ribs and subsequently performs a cold rolling process on the rebar. This method yields significantly higher resistance compared to traditional rolling techniques because it utilizes the mass of the ribs in addition to the rebar core to form the threads, resulting in a greater safety factor for the mechanical connection strength of the rebar. It is important to note that the couplers compatible with this rebar rolling method differ from conventional methods and are specifically referred to as Type D couplers.
